East Peckham, Malling, Maidstone

Melvilles 1858 Directory of Kent.

East Peckham is a village and parish, seven miles N.E from Tunbridge, two miles and a half from Wateringbury station, and seven miles and a half from Maidstone. The population in 1851 was 2,254. The church, dedicated to St. Michael, is an ancient structure. The living is a vicarage, in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Canterbury, and incumbency of the Rev. Middleton Onslow, M.A., vicar. The
new church that was erected in 1842, dedicated to the Holy Trinity, is a
very neat edifice. The Rev. John Charles Whish, M.A., is the incumbent.

Here is also a place of worship for Wesleyans. Mount Pleasant is half a
mile south; Roydon Hall, half a mile east; Larkins, one mile S.W.; Chidley
Cross, Bullers, and Pound, two miles and a half south; Brandbridges, three
miles S.E.; Snoll Hatch and Little Mill, three miles south; Poplar Green,
two miles and a half .S.W.; Burnt House and Pierce Mill, three miles and
a half S.W.

West Peckham is a small parish adjoining East Peckham ....
