The Suffolk Villages Site is dedicated to those whom were brought up in the harsh life of Suffolk, often as agricultural labourers, who endured the hardships that we hopefully do not know now. I support a couple of children through World Vision, and one is in Zimbabwe, poor kid. [No further comment - but World Vision is a great charity].
This site is also a sign of respect to all those whom have helped me in my search for an ancestry in Suffolk; plus those who supported a trip to Kenya - to help others, by my daughter. Many of these people were researching Suffolk, and this is my thanks.
The Suffolk Villages site will eventually encompass every Suffolk Village and Town, but bear with me - I also have a life. For the impatient, visit the Links page to see the work already done on Suffolk Public Houses. The rest of the South East are also at London Public Houses ; with Essex at deadpubs.co.uk and there is a separate Kent Villages site, too.
Here is a brief description of Suffolk according to the Suffolk 1830 White's Directory; this is transcribed by Colin Ager, whom is also helping me with many other census details for the site.
A new site for Cambridge Pubs should be of interest, as many of the servants / bar people / licensees appear to be from Suffolk - more to follow on this.

One last point, if interested in Essex Villages, please try historyhouse.co.uk from whom I have used their web design skills to construct this new site, plus the information is rather good too.
Lots more to follow.

If you are interested in how Google maps works, these are fairly straightforward, but I also took a more in depth view of for a research program at the University of Essex. This is still basic stuff, but may interest someone - Google Maps

ps. I already run a few other sites, albeit badly designed sites, see the
links page. Thanks Kevan

If you would like to add anything to the site - e.g. pictures, stories, census transcriptions, Trade Directory listings (the list is endless), then please do contact me - PLEASE. Email is
