Melvilles 1858 Directory of Kent.

BRASTED, or BRASTEAD, is a village and parish, four miles and a half west from Sevenoaks, and one mile and a half east from Westerham. The population in 1851 was 1,137. The church of St. Martin is an ancient stone building. The living is a rectory, in the patronage of the Archbishop of Canterbury; the Rev. William Buckton Holland, M.A., is the incumbent. Here is a national school, also a chapel for the Calvinists, of which Mr. George Moore is officiating minister.
