Middlesex Licensing Committee - Uxbridge Licences Refused.
The Spotted Dog
In opposition to the renewal of the license of the Spotted Dog, Windsor street, Uxbridge, a beer house (ante-1869) of which Mr Joseph Stickley is licensee, and messrs Sedgwick, leaseholders, under Miss M J Janes, the freeholder.
There were 30 licenses inside a 220 yards radius, of which 16 were full licences. The two nearest were the Metropolitan Tavern, 35 yards away, a better house, and the Catherine Wheel, 76 yards away, in good repair and with stabling.
Another reason the Spotted Dog should go was that there was no access to the back of the premises, and the next door house overlapped the licensed premises.
Mr Tingle, the surveyor stated that on May 16th he inspected the house, and also the three nearest neighbouring licensed houses. He saw no necessity for the retention of the license.
The renewal was declined, and the licence sent forward for the assessment and allocation of the amount for compensation.
