I believe that the Seven Stars Pub, Brick Lane, in the early 1700s was run by my ancestor John Raby, (known as French John!) a French Huguenot who came from Paris. This information comes from a distant cousin whose Grandfather (1879 -1956) wrote notes on our family history. ++

My 3x great grandfather Thomas Edwards was publican of the Seven Stars on 25 October 1827 (Proceedings of the Old Bailey). He later became publican of the Bull's Head, Jewin Street. I also believe his grandson (and my great grandfather) Edward Edwards was publican of Dirty Dick's Bishopsgate at some time. *

William Fraser was my ancestor. I have records of the first three of his children all showing father William Fraser Victualler, Brick Lane. These dates were 1829, 1831, 1834. ++

My Grandparents, Henry (Harry) and Netta Joseph, were the publicans here either side of the Second World War, although I don't have the exact dates. After running the "Seven Stars" my Grandparents took over the "Portman Hotel" in Boscombe, Dorset from the late 1950s to the late 1960s when they retired. +
