This pub was established as the Kings Head by 1759, the address formerly being given as 35 Crown Street. It was rebuilt in 1889, by which time the address had become 153 Charing Cross Road,  and at this time was renamed the Excelsior - later it is at 167 Charing Cross Road. It is long-closed as a pub and served in its final days as a sex shop, before being demolished in November 2009 to make way for the expansion of Tottenham Court Road. **.
