I think that Alf Corré is the gent standing in the doorway... I enlarged it and worked it out from the shape of his moustache! It was a postcard sent to my grandmother as a love token... it must have worked she married him a year later! Abraham Corré was known as Alf... not as Bill. My grandmother had Alzheimer’s and would go though every member of the family until she got to your name... but she would always refer to both husbands as “Bill”...

I am the granddaughter of Kate and William Bundle who owned the Carlton Tavern at 45 Culmore Road, Peckham SE15. The previous landlord, Abraham Corr" was Nana"s first husband. There is a family legend, that Nana, Kate Bundle was the Licensee of the pub in her own right after the death of one or both husbands" and that she was in fact the first female licensee in England, is there any way to find out if this is true? ***

The publicans daughters on the doorstep of the Carlton Tavern, I would estimate Sadie would have been about 25, with Alma to the right aged 15 and my Mum (Joan) to the left about 18 - circa 1943.

Nana gave birth to four children whilst owning the pub. The eldest child was from her marriage with "Alf" Corré, and was born in 1918, her name was Sadie Corr" and she died on the 26th of August this year aged 91. She was a "little person" and had spent her life on the stage and in movies. If you have ever seen "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" then you have seen her, she was the smallest Transylvanian. She was an Ewok in "Star Wars", the slave master in "Dark Crystal" and there was a long, long list of other movies. She was also a famous pantomime cat and she was with Sir Norman Wisdom at the London Palladium in "Turn again Whittington" in the 60"s. - much of this information comes from the Guardian ; and written by Glen Barham. ***
