My great-grandfather Ernest Easty was landlord of the "Ship Afloat" pub in Lower Thames Street at the time of the 1901 census. It is correct that Ernest's wife Annie Easty was born in Russia - her father had worked on railway construction there. They are licensees at the Horns, Crucifix lane about the time of the 1911 census. In 1896, at the baptism of their daughter Julia Easty, he was the publican at the Bricklayers Arms, Upper Fenton street, St George in the East, and a year later he is a grocer at 57 Lisson grove, in 1898. *

William Easty, who was licensee of the Red Lion and Punch Bowl in Clerkenwell in March 1866, was the father of Ernest Easty who ran the Ship Afloat in Lower Thames street in 1901. *
