Thomas John William Terry was the licensee at the "Green Man",  Halliday Walk (later Mildmay Street) in 1915-1917. He also had the "Carlton Tavern", which he took over in 1918. He was the licensee at "Foresters Arms" Loughton in 1918 (where his first wife Elsie died). Then he was the licensee at the "Gower Arms" Store Street in 1923, and the licensee in 1925 - 1926 at the Denbigh Arms, Denbigh Place, with his second wife Florence Ellen. When Thomas John William Terry died in 1930 (aged 41), the probate shows him at the "Beaumont Arms" Uxbridge Road. I am not sure whether his second wife Florence Ellen continued there.  He was my Grandmother Carnaby's Brother. *

I am currently researching Roland Henry Kemp (for a website on British animation) and can add the information that his father, James Kemp, formerly a bicycle maker and repairer In Woodford, Essex, became the licencee of Denbigh Arms about 1927-1928. *+
He lived there with his wife Florence, sons Roland and Archibald and daughter Ivy. Archibald, who preferred to use his second name, James, was also a licencee, although I don't know if this was jointly, or whether his father handed over to him.
In the 1939 Register James Archibald and his wife Denise are down as licenced victualler managers, and James and Florence have moved to Ruislip, where James is still a publican. Ivy has married Claude Lusty, anothen publican, and is living in the Magdala Tavern, Hampstead, but Roland is still living over the Denbigh Arms.
After the War Roland is living over the Magdala, implying that James and Denise are no longer at the Denbigh Arms. (They eventually retired to Torbay.)

Roland H Kemp worked for the National Film Corporation (a grandiose name for a company that made advertising films for national distribution) as a production manager and director, but an item in the Cine-Technician (the ACT film union magazine) dated Sept/Oct 1938 revealed an interesting hobby: *+
"Working in an ultra modern studio fitted in the large rooms above a Victoria "pub," film technician Roland Kemp works day and night extending his sound library of hand-drawn sound effects.
Already he has over two hundred tracks completed; these range from organs, voices, steam jets, hooters, bubbles, to those strange noises so dear to the heart of the film cartoonist. In obtaining these very attractive tracks, which I had the pleasure of hearing, Mr. Kemp told me he has used as many as eight exposures, each one representing some particular sound or instrument. The results give a very fuli-bodied sound effect.
Working on a cartoon bench, he uses one picture technique, photographing by means of a Moy dowel pin camera, electrically operated and containing many improvements of his own invention.
The frame line has been a great drawback to the commercialisation of the process, but this has now been overcome. Sound effects can be filmed by this process in any tempo or key.
Some of the hand-drawn tracks have been used in the General Motors' film publicising independent springing, to illustrate the fact that sound is vibration.
Roland Kemp has promised the "Cine-Technician" he will write an article dealing fully with this very interesting subject."
