Public Houses & Pubs History in Hertfordshire

A directory of Pubs in the UK, historical public houses, Taverns, Inns, Beer Houses and Hotels in Hertfordshire . The Hertfordshire listing uses information from census, Trade Directories and History to add licensees, bar staff, Lodgers and Visitors. This is not an exhaustive listing, and is certainly missing a considerable amount of information. Currently, the 1912 list is being worked through, to get Pubs listed at that time into the correct listing. At the same time, the 1891 census is slowly being added - this often lists the name of a beer house, and is very useful information. The Hertfordshire site is started by adding census & Directory listings, but considerable extra detail can be found from Petty Sessions victualler records & Recognizances, which are usually held by the local Record Office. If you want to see pictures on this site, I would love to add your pictures. If you can add any information on any of the Pubs, Beer House & Hotels, please contact me.

Thanks, Kevan  ; I also run sites for all of Essex, much of London, Kent, Suffolk, Sussex etc.

This page links to Hertfordshire by town and village, and this rapidly changes as I add additional information. Plus  a Herts Pubs list in 1890
